Dear Parents,
We will be taking an educational field trip to Discovery Park in Union City, TN on Tuesday, June
16. Students should be at the school by 7:30 A.M. and will return by 5:00 P.M. Students should
wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes (No uniforms). We will be taking lunch and a snack
from school.
Discovery Park is a wonderful place for a field trip, but they do have some strict rules. Below are
some of those rules copied directly from their website:
If you are bringing lunch to Discovery Park, please note that only food from a school cafeteria is
allowed. No other outside food will be allowed to enter Discovery Park. This includes lunches
prepared at home and applies to both student and adult lunches.
Please wear clothing that is weather-appropriate as some exhibits are outdoors. Comfortable
walking shoes are recommended.
All backpacks and large bags must be left on the bus. Backpacks are not permitted in Discovery
Park of America. Any bag with straps designed to be worn on the back is considered a backpack.
Wheeled bags or luggage are not permitted in Discovery Park of America. Discovery Park of
America security staff reserves the right of final judgment with regards to all questions related to
bag size.
These rules apply to all visitors to Discovery Park of America; students, teachers, chaperones, and
parents.
Chaperones are responsible for supervising children at all times and are responsible for assisting
with supervision, discipline, and health issues. They should expect to be asked for assistance by
Discovery Park Staff if the need should arise.
