2014: THE LEGACY OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO THRIVE
GARDENS, WOODS, AND PRAIRIE MEADOWS
 Continued removal of invasive species in prairie wildflower meadows and preserve area.
 Held a community volunteer event on April 12 to plant 700 seedlings
 Formed volunteer gardener group: Carol Carraway, Marketa Anderson, Nancy McLaughlin,
Kate Browne, Bob Henn
 Received donations of a Butterfly Garden (Lebanon Garden Club), Milkweed seed plantings
(Robert Glover and Dick Reese), teepee vine planting, and birdhouses (Young Life and Liz
Stegman Memorial Donation)
 Planted wildflower seeds in the spring: 8 acres in new 51 acres
TRAILS
 Established a ½ mile mulched trail in the preserve area
 Continued improvements to the running/walking/biking trail
CONSTRUCTION/ADDITIONS
 Constructed a sledding hill in the passive park area
 Added doggie bags and GAGA rule sign to GAGA Pit
 Installed additional lighting for flag

OTHER PROJECTS INITIATED:
 FRIENDSHIP CONNECTION: Initiated a Friendship relationship between Ishinomaki
Playground in Japan and Miller Ecological Park. Carol Carraway, Esther Larson, Faith
Nicolet, Mike Mullett, Kate Browne and Nancy Myerholtz met with Emiko and Mel Moore
on October 30 to discuss the possibility of a friendship program between the two parks.
 LEARNING LABORATORY: Initiated a Learning Laboratory Project with a meeting organized
by Peggy Logue on October 27. Nicole Berger, Bowman Elementary Teacher, Scott Brunka,
Tim Huitger, Bill Lindauer, Dave Woehr, Peggy Logue, Donna Shaw (OCVN), and OSU
Students from the School of Environment and Natural Resources attended.
