How to make a... Skiing Snowman You will need: 2 x Spun Paper Balls, 1 x large and 1 x small (catalogue no. 209312) 2 x Lolly Sticks (catalogue no. 209904) A selection of Pipecleaners (try catalogue no. 204155) A piece of Felt (catalogue no. 209637 1 x small Pom-Pom (catalogue no. 209314) 3 How to make your own Skiing Snowman: 1.Begin by painting the Lolly Sticks in a bright colour. Set aside to dry. 2.Take the larger of the two Spun Paper Balls and, using a sharp pencil, make a hole in the top. Do the same with the smaller Spun Paper Ball. 3.Cut a piece of Pipecleaner about 5cm in length and fold in half. Put some glue into the hole in the top of the large Spun Paper Ball and insert the folded Pipecleaner. Then put some glue onto the other end of the Pipecleaner and slot the small Spun Paper Ball on top to form the snowman’s body. Set aside to dry. 4.To make the scarf, cut a strip of felt approximately 14cm long x 2cm wide. Cut some small snips into each end to make tassels. 2 x Beads (try catalogue no. 209123) Paints 5.Take a Pipecleaner in a similar colour to your scarf and cut it so that it is slightly shorter than your scarf. Glue the Pipecleaner to the scarf. Set aside to dry. Scissors and glue Black marker pen 6.To make the hat, take a Pipecleaner and begin winding it into a flat coil. When the coil is about the same size as a 10p coin snip off the excess Pipecleaner with scissors. Gently pull out the middle of the coil to make a conical sort of shape. Finish off the hat by adding a dab of glue to the top of the hat and attaching a small Pom-Pom. Set aside to dry. 7.Take a sharp pencil and punch a hole in the middle of the snowman’s face. Punch a hole on either side of the snowman’s body. 8.To make the nose, cut a piece of Pipecleaner approximately 2cm long. An ideal colour would be orange to suggest a carrot but you can use any colour of Pipecleaner. Fold the cut Pipecleaner in half, add a dab of glue to the non-folded end and push it into the hole in the snowman’s face. se the black marker pen to draw coal eyes and a mouth on the 9. U snowman’s face and some coal buttons on his front. 10.Choose 2 Pipecleaners in different colours. One Pipecleaner will make the snowman’s arms and the other will be his ski poles. From each Pipecleaner, cut 2 lengths approximately 6cm each. Finish the ski poles by gluing a bead to one end. Next, bend elbows into the arms. Then wrap approximately 5mm of one end of each arm around a ski pole. 11.Now you’re ready to assemble your snowman. Start by wrapping the scarf around the snowman’s neck. You can use glue to secure if you wish. Bend the scarf so that it looks like it’s flailing behind the snowman as he whizzes downhill. Then glue the hat to the snowman’s head. Then add some glue to the tops of the snowman’s arms and carefully push them into the holes on the side of the body. You may need to hold them for a minute while the glue dries. Finally, put a dab of glue onto the middle of each ski and position them on the table parallel about 1cm apart. Sit the snowman onto the skis.
