One-Day Trip in Golden Gate Park
Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California - you must have heard about it hundreds of times by now.
Maybe you are puzzled about the flood of information. Yes, it is a huge and beautiful park with a lot of things
to do, like eating, drinking and visiting museums. So follow us while we take you on a relaxing one-day trip
to nourish your spirit and appetite. Ready? Let’s go!
Project Participants • Jonathan’s class: Emrah, Wan-Chi, MiaoLin, Yu-Li, Jindrich, Marika, Juan • 04/30/2010
First, we will visit the De Young Museum.
The De Young Museum is the oldest museum in San Francisco. The original museum building was an art
gallery, which was built for the international California Exposition in Golden Gate Park in 1894.
Then, let’s experience something exotic – the Japanese Tea Garden.
After walking around the De Young, let’s have a cup of tea for rest. This is a historical Japanese-style garden
originally built as the Japanese Village for the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition. Sitting on
the Tatami, watching the tea ceremony conducted by the Japanese lady wearing a Kimono, enjoying a meditative cup of tea overlooking the peaceful waters of the garden at the tea house, it feels like you are in the
far country – Japan. Then, the space and time are confused…
After the tea time, let’s take a shuttle to lunch at the Cliff House Restaurant
which is near Ocean Beach. In the restaurant, you can get a view of Seal Rocks which have been flushing by
the waves of the Pacific Ocean. The sweeping views, ocean location, and the modern dining make it very
popular.
The next spot shall be the California Academy of Sciences
The new California Academy of Sciences is filled with hundreds of innovative and exciting exhibits and thousands of animals. We can find science that is close to our daily life, and we can have fun learning more about
it.
Ok, our trip will end here. There are several restaurants and bars nearby either for your family dinner or
dating. Hope you had fun with us today.

Parking Lot Information
GG Park Concouse Parking; North Entrance
800 10th Ave, San Francisco, Califormia 94118
This is the biggest parking lot in Golden Gate Park and
the location is very close to the museums. We recommend this lot for all museum trips. If the Concourse Lot is
full, try either of these two:
ABC Parking Management
a) (close to Museums) 801 Stanyan Street,
San Francisco, CA 94117
b) (close to golf course) 854 30th Avenue,
San Francisco, CA 94121
People could also park in the closest neighborhoods but it could be inconvenient and a long walk to Golden
Gate Park.
Exercise & Sports Activities information
Golden Gate Park offers various areas for several activities which include soccer, golf, baseball, bowling,
tennis and more. There is also Kezar Stadium which is great for American football.
In addition to the list above, we also recommend jogging, biking and skating.
This park also offers two playgrounds especially for children and families.
There are several lakes inside Golden Gate Park but we highly recommend Stow Lake. This is the largest lake
in the park which is suitable for water activities, mainly paddling and peddling. Of course there is a boat
rental there.
