PROVENANCE HOTELS, GB LODGING AND WOODBINE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ANNOUNCE
COMPLETION OF OLD NO. 77 HOTEL & CHANDLERY IN NEW ORLEANS
Opening of Compère Lapin, Chef Nina Compton’s new restaurant, is the final phase in the
creation of a new Warehouse Arts District Hotel at the forefront of the city’s hospitality boom.
June 1, 2015 – New Orleans, La. – The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery, a shining example of the rebound
in the New Orleans hospitality market, is open in the heart of the city’s historic Warehouse Arts District.
Recognizing the investment potential in New Orleans and sensing a coming upswing in consumer
demand for the destination, Provenance Hotels and GB Lodging purchased the property – then known
as the Ambassador Hotel – in August 2013. In partnership with Woodbine Development Corporation,
Provenance Hotels expanded the room count to 167, created one of city’s hottest new restaurants, and
introduced a sophisticated modern design that highlights rustic original details – like hardwood floors
and exposed brick walls – and celebrates the unique culture and art of New Orleans.
Located at the intersection of Tchoupitoulas and Lafayette Streets just four blocks from the French
Quarter, the hotel is the latest incarnation of a building built in 1854. The perfect Big Easy home base for
work or play, the Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery welcomes travelers with a light, airy design that allows
the building’s authentic warehouse architecture to shine. The property is home to an art collection
created in partnership with the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA), a regional, preprofessional arts school founded by artists, educators and community activists, and Compère Lapin, one
of New Orleans’ most anticipated new restaurants, will open at Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery on June 2,
2015, with chef/owner Nina Compton, an alumni of BRAVO’s Top Chef: New Orleans, at the helm.
