DRAW ME
General Description:
This game is modeled after “Pictionary.” Players draw pictures as clues to help their
team guess a specific word or phrase.
How to Play:
1. Create a list of 3-4 terms.
2. Organize students into pairs or small groups. One player within a group is the
designated drawer while the others try to guess each term. The drawer faces the
list displayed at the front of the room. The other players have their backs to it.
3. On your signal, reveal the term and say “Go!”
4. The “drawer” draws pictures to represent the term without using letters or numbers.
5. The first team to correctly identify all of the words on the list stands. All other
teams stop drawing. Award the winning team a point.
6. Examine the drawings from each team and discuss the different pictorial
representations. Which picture clues were most helpful? Why?
7. Designate a new drawer for each team and begin the next round with new words.
Tips:
• Remind students that they do not need to be “artists” to play this game. The
goal is to represent ideas, not to create art. The quicker you are the better!
• Think of the pictures you draw as a rough draft representation of the word.
• Discuss quick imaging. For example, instead of drawing detailed people, just
draw a stick figure.
