Senior Reminders from Guidance Do NOT procrastinate. Your emergency is not our emergency. Get organized and plan ahead. Senioritis is a disease… take a daily dose of responsibility for a cure! If you need to make up credits to graduate on time: A. www.flvs.net If you do not know what classes you need to take, ask your counselor. B. Night School (Taravella HS or Ely HS) you will need an application from your counselor. If you need to complete service hours (40 needed to graduate): Visit the Guidance page at www.monarchknights.com. You can find the approval form you need to get started, contact information for the Volunteer service coordinators, suggested places in Coconut Creek, deadlines, etc. Remember, service hours can only be done at not for profit agencies. Bright Futures Scholarship Information and Application: Visit the Guidance page at www.monarchknights.com. Apply in December, you do not need to wait until you meet all the requirements to apply. If you need a waiver for the ACT or SAT, please see the BRACE Advisor in the Main Guidance office (Ms. Siadman). Plan ahead, do not wait until the last day to apply or to pick up your waiver. Also, on the Guidance page of www.monarchknights.com you can find links to the test sites and links to free test prep sites as well. If you need a transcript to be sent to a college or university, go to the main Guidance office to request it to be sent. If your college, university or scholarship requires a letter of recommendation (most do not, public Florida universities do not require them) please give us at least two weeks to complete one. Our letters are confidential and are sent directly to the college, university or scholarship program, not given to the students. We ask that you complete a “Getting to Know” form (available on the Guidance page of www.monarchknights.com or paper copies available in our offices. Again, be organized, plan ahead. If you would like to visit with college admission counselors and recruiters: College admissions counselors and recruiters visit Monarch from time to time. You cannot just show up, you must sign up in the main Guidance office and get a pass from Ms. Siadman to attend the presentation. Pay attention to the announcements about these upcoming visits. Many important questions can be answered in person. Post secondary plans: Not sure what to do after graduation?
