COMMUNITY PROFILE
Jupiter, a beautiful city designed around the Jupiter Inlet, Intracoastal Waterway, and Loxahatchee River, offers a
wonderful setting in which to live the American dream. An abundance of golf courses, meandering deep-water access
waterways, and parks offer unlimited opportunities for outdoor enjoyment in this sizeable community with a smalltown feel. Rich in cultural history, Jupiter is home to a mix of young families, professionals, retirees, and seasonal
residents.
Dating back to 1565, Jupiter is one of the earliest settlements in Florida, with the original inhabitants being the Jega
Indians. After Spanish discovery in 1565, the community first gained national attention when Jonathan Dickinson
became shipwrecked on the shores of Jupiter and told exciting stories of his encounters.
The Jupiter Lighthouse was built in the 1800s and is still one of the most identifiable landmarks in the area. The
distinguished beauty of the 105-foot tall, original brick red lighthouse draws many visitors familiar with the town’s
international reputation for guiding ships. The ocean area extends further out into the Atlantic Ocean than any other
point along Florida’s eastern coast. Great care has been taken to retain the flavor and history of the community.
With 100 miles of unspoiled natural beaches, Jupiter is also famous for its exceptionally clean environment. The
Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor and water activities. Many
public parks, museums, and theaters enhance the experience of living in the area. The Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter
hosts spring training for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Florida Marlins.
Located at the northern end of Palm Beach County, Jupiter is minutes from Palm Beach International Airport, Tri-Rail
commuter train service and Amtrak intercity train service, as well as Palm Tran, which offers residents a
comprehensive bus route throughout the county. In addition, a picturesque trolley car provides service downtown
from historic neighborhoods, making stops at the local post office, town hall, and public library.
A short 20-minute drive to downtown West Palm Beach opens up many avenues of cultural activities, such as the
Kravis Center’s ballets, opera, symphonies, and other performing arts productions. The Gardens Mall offers 1.3
million square feet of shopping and dining possibilities, as well as frequent fashion shows and special events.
Downtown at the Gardens is just minutes away, offering luxury outdoor shopping and dining. Downtown Clematis
holds weekly street festivals offering great entertainment and fine foods, while CityPlace tempts visitors with upscale
retail stores, restaurants, a 20-screen cinema, a cultural arts center, and a distinctive plaza and fountain housed in a
European-style town center. Additional world-class shopping is just minutes away in Palm Beach along legendary
Worth Avenue.
