Their store Kitchen Kaboodle’s success just made them want to do more – like provide products that make the entire home elegant and comfortable. So Katie and Cathy set about opening a second store, Kaboodle at Home, and found an ideal location: a 3,600-square-foot car-wash-turned-office-building. All it needed was a complete overhaul. Progress: Katie and Cathy approached several lenders, and one stood out. “We felt that the enthusiasm of The Progress Fund and their interest in growing our business was far greater than we saw from the banks,” Katie says. “They were very quick to put together what we needed.” Namely, a $150,000 loan. Impact: Kaboodle at Home has added jobs and displayed openness to local manufacturers and craftspeople. The housewares store is a new amenity to the dynamic State College region. Now the shoppers who travel across town and from all over the state for Kitchen Kaboodle really can get the whole kit and caboodle.
