Baseball Defensive Fundamentals Clinic This clinic is open to all baseball players interested in improving their defensive fundamentals. The 2 day clinic is designed to give baseball players the opportunity to develop their talents in an instructional setting. Come enjoy two action-packed days filled with learning the proper way to shoot a basketball. Lectures, demonstrations, drills, video, and mechanics used by the world’s best shooters will be used to teach your son how to correctly shoot the basketball. Our goal is to teach each camper proper repetition of good mechanics that will develop the muscle memory needed to become a consistent shooter. Location: Executive Bowl Camp Format – This camp gives beginning and experienced bowlers the chance to develop their bowling skills in all areas of the game. Camp Information – The cost of the camp is $165 and includes a mid-performance bowling ball for each camper. Summer at St. X 2017 *Select the camp based on the grade the camper is entering* CERAMICS CROSS COUNTRY Cancelled June 12th – 15th 6th – 9th Graders St. X ceramic instructor and current St. X students will work with camps on building functional pottery. Students will work in the large ceramic studio on campus. During the first week, we will build bowls, serving dishes, mugs, tumblers, and plates. All work built will be microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and food safe. Students will learn pinch pot, slab built, and coil construction techniques. The second week of camp, students will glaze their pottery on Monday-Wednesday. Thursday we will screen print t-shirts with our student designed image and personalize them. Please supply a prewashed solid color shirt. Friday we will unload the kiln and marvel at our beautiful works of functional pottery. Camp Format – The camp will stress running with teamwork and fun. Films will aid in instruction. Guest speakers will discuss various running subjects. College and high school runners will attend and talk about their running experiences. All campers are covered by accidental injury insurance for the week within policy limits. We will teach you the basics to become a good distance runner and have fun at the same time. Some topics covered will be: proper running form, pacing, pack running, nutrition, proper stretching, running games, interval workouts, tempo runs, and racing strategy. Camp Information – The cost of the 2-week camp is $175. Campers will take home a minimum of six functional pieces of pottery. Lift fingerprints, analyze blood spatter, and experience actual skeletonization. Get interactive with a virtual reality crime scene. Seats are limited so register early. June 13th – 16th 3rd – 8th Graders 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Camp Format – St. X Tigers Football Camp is the premier non-contact camp that stresses football fundamentals for all offensive and defensive positions. St. X coaches and players, along with former NFL players, will work with campers to develop proper understanding and the technique it takes to play each position. Campers will also concentrate on team concepts with more in depth 7-on-7 play, with 11-on-11 play implemented as well. In addition, each camper will be introduced to a basic strength training regimen and permitted to work out in one of the largest and best-equipped weight and fitness complex in the state. Summer at St. X 2017 *Select the camp based on the grade the camper is entering* FOOTBALL Continued June 6th – 7th Grades 6th – 9th GRAMMAR CAMP 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM St. X Passing & 7-on-7 Skills Camp Camp format - St. X is offering a specialized 2-day camp for quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, tight ends, linebackers, and defensive backs that will teach proper techniques, skills, and instruction during competition drills and 7-on-7 contests. This camp will focus on the specialty of each position to have an immediate positive impact on the player. For example, the quarterback position will involve footwork, throwing mechanics, game management, and recognition of coverage’s, with training during live action drills and 7-on-7 competition; and likewise for each position. The cost of the camp is $50 - registration is due on or before May 31st. Campers will receive a Tshirt. The camp will be at St. Xavier High School on the stadium field and surrounding property. The course will focus on identifying parts of speech, sentence parts, phrases, clauses, and sentence types. Cadets will also be introduced to sentence diagramming and will learn to correct the most common errors in our language. Forget what you’ve heard about the rigor of the police academy: this course will incorporate videos, interactive games, and prizes as we train to live up to our motto: To Correct and Serve. A well-rounded athlete has the greatest potential to maximize their ability once they decide to specify in one sport. This camp will introduce and teach fundamental strength movements, running technique, agility drills, conditioning methods, and stretching regimens. Athletes will also be given an “at home” program at the conclusion of the camp so that they may continue to develop their abilities after the camp is over. Because this camp will coincide with the beginning of the CSAA football season, it will be a great opportunity for young athletes to become acclimated to the heat and develop the necessary conditioning needed to safely transition into practice. However, because this camp will incorporate universal athletic components, it is beneficial for athletes of ALL SPORTS! Camp Information – The cost of the camp is $100. Each day will emphasize all facets of the game: ground strokes, volleys, serves, returns, and specialized strokes, as well as the physical and mental discipline it takes to become a competitive player. We will focus on a different aspect of the game every day, including tactics and sportsmanship. Our competitive, live-ball drills are designed for match play situations and maximum player-onplayer contact. Each day will end with match play by levels with on court coaching. Because we want to provide a first-rate training experience, we will limit the TTT to the first 24 players per session. (Note: we have been full in the past. Sign up early.) Intensity Wrestling Camp Camp Format- The intensity wrestling camp is open for wrestlers with a minimum of two years of experience unless cleared with Coach Knable or Coach Quirino. Wrestlers must be familiar in all wrestling positions, neutral, top, bottom. The intensity wrestling camp is designed around a college style practice, which is at a higher pace and intensity, and will also provide wrestlers with a series of wrestling and conditioning techniques, skills, and drills in order to take their wrestling to the next level. St. Xavier 2013 State Champion Coaches Jim Kraeszig, Efren Quirino, Isaac Knable, and Richard Brooks will be camp instructors. John Lampe a St. X graduate will also be a camp counselor. John currently wrestles Division I for the University of TennesseeChattanooga. While at St. X, Lampe was a two time KHSAA State Champion and a two time High School All-American.
