Three Skeleton Key: Part One

Three Skeleton Key: Part One
• Turn to the book journal section of your spiral notebook.
• Skip or draw a line after your book journal and write Three Skeleton
Key
• Then, write the four initial reading symbols with several lines
skipped between each symbol.
• While we’re reading the story, I want you to jot down anything
from the story that:
? = puzzles or confuses you
! = interests you
+ = gives you a positive reaction
- = gives you a negative reaction
• Don’t forget to include the page number, so you can find exactly
what part of the story during our class discussion.
• Now that we have finished part one of Three Skeleton Key, it’s time
for you to begin a flow map to show the plot line of what has
happened so far.
• Remember: making a plot line of any story we read in class is a
great way to study for upcoming assessments.
Three Skeleton Key: Part Two
• Turn to the book journal section of your spiral notebook.
• Today we’re going to continue our initial reading activity for the
second half of Three Skeleton Key.
• While we’re reading the story, I want you to continue to jot down
anything from the story that:
? = puzzles or confuses you
! = interests you
+ = gives you a positive reaction
- = gives you a negative reaction
• Don’t forget to include the page number, so you can find exactly
what part of the story during our class discussion.
• Now that we have finished Three Skeleton Key, it’s time for you to
add on to your flow map to complete the plot line.
• Remember: making a plot line of any story we read in class is a
great way to study for upcoming assessments.
