Instructional Strategies/ Procedure for the Class: Here is a script of what will happen in the class right down to the
wording of questions and so on. Your script may be listed in steps or procedures that include time allotted to them. Each
section will include information on what the teacher will do and what students will do as well as the teaching strategies.
Phase 1: Prior Learning - Motivator/ Introduction / Review / Warm-up --- The Beginning
Time: 5mins
Teacher will:
Take attendance
Introduce a FUN way to wrap up art class by emphasizing the spring day/ temperature/summer/nice day outside
Create concept map on the board with marker:
What are some common things that we find in springtime?
Anticipated student answers:
Flowers, birds, sunshine, leaves, grass etc.
Alternate Teacher Questions:
What things in nature are a sign of spring?
Are there animals or insects that you see in springtime?
Phase 2: Knowledge Content (Tasks and Activities) – Supporting Learning --- The Middle
Time:10mins
Teacher will:
Begin PowerPoint Presentation “Paper Quilling”
Model quilling process (use the document camera for guided practice and to monitor students) - cutting strips, rolling
coil, gluing coil, drying, attaching pieces.
Phase 3: Thinking (Activities) - Engage Students in Higher Order Tasks --- The Thinking
Time: 20 mins
Students will:
Need one paper and pencil per table
Begin creating a design on a scrape piece of paper for a group mobile (tables)
Teacher will:
Approve the ideas before students begin quilling
NEXT CLASS:
Work will continue
Teacher will assist students in hanging finished work in the windows
Phase 4: Closure – Reflection / Assessment / Review / Evaluation --- The End
Time:10mins
View a variety of student work produced by students (emphasizing positives and suggested improvements)
Clean up
Enrichment:
Include at least one activity or task that extends the lesson. This can be used for students who have completed the main
tasks or if you have completed the lesson and have additional time.
Work that is more delicate in nature can be done with narrow 1/8" strips of thinner paper.
This paper can be rolled on a toothpick and pinched into elaborate shapes.
Students that finish early will be encouraged to attempt more elaborate designs
Remediation:
Provide at least one example of how you could simplify the task for students having difficulty.
Students experiencing difficulty may need assistance cutting, rolling and gluing paper. My create additions to mobile that
are simpler to construct i.e., grass, stems for flowers etc.
Teaching Method and Strategies
Describe the teaching methods and strategies used. You may want to research these to acquire more information.
Graphic organizer- to emphasize concepts visually
