The Dead Sea Fault Zone extends from the Gulf of Aqaba into Lebanon along the Dead
Sea and Jordan River (see images above)
Topography
Topographic Features along the Dead Sea Fault are shown below. The faculty zone
itself follows the trend of the Jordan River less than 400 m above sea level. The highest
elevations flanking the fault zone are above 1500 meters. The surface of Dead Sea is
the lowest point on Earth, but the solid Earth at the bottom of the sea is over 800m

Note that almost all of the earthquake foci along the Dead sea fault zone are <33km
deep.

The only volcano shown near the Dead Sea fault is in NW Syria and it has not been
historically active.
