Scientific Method: The thoughtful process of steps for solving a problem.
Problem: The question to be answered.
Hypothesis: An educated guess. The answer to the question from the problem. It has to be testable.
Experiment: An activity designed to answer a question.
Procedure: The steps in the experiment.
Data: Information observed, collected, and recorded in an experiment.
Analysis: Where calculations are done, data is graphed, and questions are answered.
Calculations: The math that is done on the data.
Conclusion: A paragraph at the end of a lab experiment that:





Restates the hypothesis
Accepts or rejects the hypothesis
Uses data to prove your position
Decides if there is a new question
Report your results
Constants: Anything that stays the same for all trials in an experiment.
Control: The one item that is not tested in an experiment.
Independent Variable: The part of the experiment that you control.
Dependent Variable: The part of the experiment that you measure.

Independent variable is the part of the experiment you control, and dependent variable is the part of
the experiment you measure.
