This is a range of lightweight cartonboard packs for sandwich packaging which use a thin laminate to keep the moisture
in the food inside the pack so that it does not dry out. RAP is a member of OPRL and has had the Freshpack sandwich
packs assessed by WRAP and confirmed as widely recycled under OPRL’s current guidelines, meaning that the entire pack
may be disposed with cartonboard in the majority of recycling facilities in the UK. In addition to the ability to recycle the
new Freshpacks, they also offer a lighter pack than other cartonboard packs sold for the same purpose. A typical
cartonboard sandwich pack weighs around 17gms. RAP’s cartonboard sandwich pack was already the lightest on the
market with a typical weight of 13gms. The Freshpack further reduces this to a little over 11gms. This means that, even
if packs are not recycled, the amount of waste is still significantly reduced over using alternative cartonboard sandwich
packaging. RAP’s Freshpack gives both weight reduction and recyclability, reducing landfill, disposal costs and the
product’s overall transport and materials carbon footprint.
