Welcome to the Summer Term!
CURRICULUM
How does your garden grow?
We will be learning about the
importance of water for life
through our topic book ‘Lila and
the Secret of Rain’. In the second
half term we will be learning
about the history of flying and
transport. This links in with
Literacy ‘Bob and the Moon Tree
Mystery’. In this exciting topic
the children will be writing
character descriptions, settings,
retelling stories and creating
their own stories. Our Science
Topic for the first half term is all
about plants and what they need
to grow. Our second Science
topic is ‘Changing Shape’. The
children will use books and iPads
for research work. They will write
non-chronological reports about
the Wright brothers. Our R.E.
topics from the ‘Come and See’
scheme will be Spread the Word,
Rules and Treasures.

UNIF ORM
We are looking forward to
working with you to support your
child during this busy and
important year in their lives.
Please avoid taking holidays
throughout the summer term as
children will be having
assessments. We will start the
tests at the beginning of May
and administer them through
small groups during the whole of
May. We want the children to see
this as part of everyday lessons.
Please remember the tests are to
celebrate your child’s
achievements and they will not
be under any pressure. You can
support your child by reading
with them as usual and chatting
about their day.
The children have come back
from the Easter holidays looking
really smart and we would like
this to continue through the year.
Please ensure your child only
wears brown or black hair bands/
clips/bobbles in their hair.
Remember no fashion hair styles
and no earrings. Also can you
make sure they have the correct
P.E. kit in school ready for the
exciting lessons we have
planned.
During this summer
term the girls can wear yellow
check dresses.
HOW YOU CA N HELP
Please support your child by
reading with them on a daily
basis and helping them with their
spellings, and first 100/200
words which are listed in the
yellow reading organisers. Please
practice number bonds and

their day and regularly check
