GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Peel Away is a unique paint removal system for
the removal of multiple layers of common old
paints.
USES
The safe poultice method of chemical stripping is
recommended and is referred to in the EPA
“Lead Alert” guide as a safe method of stripping.
The product is a thick paste that is applied to the
surface and then covered with a laminated
fibrous cover. This allows the product to emulsify
up to 12 layers of paint in one application. The
laminated cover prevents evaporation and
restricts dangerous chemicals from entering the
atmosphere while keeping the product active long
after application. Peel Away is suitable for the
following:
 Safe removal of multiple layers of old,
deteriorating and unwanted paint films.
 Containment and safe disposal.
 The reduction of contamination into the
water system.
 Reduced health risks to the public and to
industry.
Peel Away 8 will remove up to 12 layers of paint
safely in one application from; wood, plaster,
brick, stone, concrete, metal, aluminium, painted
fibreglass, lead based paint and oil, varnish and
acrylic paints. Peel Away 8 will not remove most
industrial chemically resistant coatings.
SIZES
Available in Test Kit form (300gm) or individual
containers. Sizes available are 1kg, 5kg, 15kg
and 225kg. Laminated sheets are available in
1kg = 1 sheet
5kg = 3 sheets
15kg = 10 sheets
225kg = 120 sheets
Extra sheets may be required on uneven
surfaces.
COVERAGE
Apply Peel Away paste between 2mm to 3mm
thick, covering the surface.
APPLICATION
Spatula (supplied), trowel, brush or spray.
PROVIDE ADEQUATE VENTILATION DURING
USE. DO NOT USE IN TEMPERATURES
BELOW 10°C OR ABOVE 30°C. Performance
will be affected outside of this temperature range.
APPLICATION GUIDE
1. It is always recommended to carry out a TEST
PATCH evaluation first (average 24 hours)
first as there are many varied types of paints
and surface conditions. Do not leave test
patch on too long as surface will return to
original condition and procedure will have to
be repeated.
2. Apply Peel Away paste between 2mm and
3mm thick, covering the surface.
3. Completely cover the paste with printed Peel
Away fibrous laminated cover and smooth out
any air bubbles. Use only Peel Away cover.
4. Tape up the edges with masking tape for
optimal results.
5. Leave the surface for 2 hours to 48 hours
depending on the number of layers and
climate conditions. (When using on painted
fibreglass, limit dwell time to 2-6 hours).
Check the progress at intervals by removing a
small part of paper from the area. If paint is
starting to come off the wall, remove the
paper, if Peel Away hasn’t fully worked yet,
seal the area back up and leave.
6. By sliding a scraper behind the paper, ease
off the paint, paste and paper in one piece.
Remove in small sections and scrape off
loose debris and residue.
7. Thoroughly wash the surface with plain water,
nylon brush and sponge.
Peel Away 1 must be properly neutralised
prior to recoating the surface.
DANGEROUS GOODS CLASSIFICATION
Not classified as a Dangerous Good.
CLEAN UP
Clean equipment with water immediately after
use.
DISPOSAL
For households and small quantities the EPA
recommends placing the contaminants into thick
plastic bags and then disposal through the
council garbage collection. For large quantities
and all commercial waste disposal refer to local
EPA guidelines.
PRECAUTIONS
Hazardous by inhalation or if swallowed.
