“Somebody
Has To”
by Shel
Silverstein
Somebody has to go polish the stars,
They’re looking a little bit dull.
Somebody has to go polish the stars,
For the eagles and starlings and gulls
Have all been complaining they’re tarnished and worn,
They say they want new ones we cannot afford.
So please get your rags
And your polishing jars,
Somebody has to go polish the stars.
“Listen to
Mustn'ts”
by Shel
Silverstein
Listen to Mustn'ts, child, listen to
the Don'ts.
Listen to the Shouldn'ts, the
Impossibles, the Won'ts.
Listen to the Never Haves, then
listen close to me.
Anything can happen, child,
Anything can be.
The House
Spider webs cover the worn down house with
broken windows that looked onto the
neighborhood like sinister black eyes. The
door hung off the hinges, daring you to walk
up the broken stairs and find out what lurked
in the ominous ebony interior. Dead leaves
covered the year and bare trees had long
limbs stretching towards the sidewalk like
arms ready to grab anyone that walked by.
Neighbors say strange sounds rang out at
night and an eerie green light could be seen
at the based of the house. Rumor had it
that a heinous crime had been committed in
the house over fifty years ago and the spirit
of the victims still lingered inside.

THE RAVEN
by Edgar Allen Poe
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'T is some visiter," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door—
Only this, and nothing more.“
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow:—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Nameless here for evermore.
And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
"'T is some visiter entreating entrance at my chamber door
Some late visiter entreating entrance at my chamber door;—
This it is, and nothing more."
Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
"Sir," said I, "or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you"—here I opened wide the door;—
Darkness there, and nothing more.
