LUNETTES KOLLEKTION ∙ TORSTRASSE 172 ∙ 10115 BERLIN, GERMANY WWW.LUNETTES-KOLLEKTION.COM ∙ INFO @ LUNETTES-KOLLEKTION.COM CAPARA AND LUNETTES KOLLEKTION BAND TOGETHER FOR NEW COLLABORATION THAT DECONSTRUCTS EYEWEAR AS WE KNOW IT Berlin’s forward-looking eyewear specialists Lunettes Kollektion and Antwerp, Belgium-based fashion innovators Capara have joined forces to create a sunglasses collection, the likes of which have never been seen. This is eyewear reduced to its essentials, and elevated to artform. The Lunettes Kollektion x Capara sunglasses collaboration will accompany Capara’s Spring / Summer 2017 women’s wear collection, entitled Freefall, after the song from EBM music project Fixmer/McCarthy. Capara designers Vera and Olivera Capara push boundaries, mismatching shapes, while making elegant, vivid garments. Their work stands for contrasts: couture meets street, traditional fabric merges with modern technique. Their collaboration with Lunettes Kollektion stretches the very limits of eyewear expression. High tech meets handmade: for the first time, Lunettes Kollektion utilizes 3-D printing to create a frame. At the same time, artisanal handwork finishes the sunglasses with a special twist. The minimalist design is deconstructionist in concept: reduced to a frame and lenses – then connected in a completely new way, without screws or rims. The Lunettes Kollektion x Capara collection begins with a black 3-D printed double-bridge frame that functions as a sort of foundation. Building on top of that, four different lens shapes are added – round, winged, teardrop, and shield – in four colors: gold, silver, black, and green. These are in turn attached to the frames with matte rubber bands which knot, twist, wrap, and bind them in two different patterns and six colors – gold, black, pink, yellow, red, and green. In total, there are nine variations. “Eyewear has a particular approach, practicality, stability, longevity next to modernity, freshness and particularity. It is challenging to create a product which combines both aspects,” commented the designers. “Capara very much appreciates Lunettes Kollektion’s openness to discover different roads – high tech solutions next to handmade ones, 3-D drawings next to hand cut lenses, and handmade elastic knotted attachments.” “Vera and Olivera’s approach to designing these sunglasses was a tremendous surprise for me,” commented Lunettes founder Uta Geyer. “Coming from the perspective of fashion designers rather than that of classic eyewear design, they were able to conceptualize a completely deconstructed pair of sunglasses that reflects only its purest elements – frame, lens, and connector.” PINK FREEFALL BLACK FREEFALL YELLOW FREEFALL SILVER DOUBLE FREEFALL GREEN FREEFALL GOLD DOUBLE FREEFALL LUNETTES KOLLEKTION X CAPARA SUNGLASSES WILL BE AVAILABLE IN SELECTED SHOPS WORLDWIDE, AND LUNETTES KOLLEKTION IN-STORE AND ONLINE.
