Hound PC has had three major planning applications submitted in recent months; the
council has submitted objections to all applications.

with 40 bed extra care units, parking, and additional facilities at the land next to Hamble
Station, which was refused by the LAC on the 13th of March.
Taylor Wimpey have submitted an application for up to 150 dwellings on the opposing
land to the Jurd Way Roundabout. This went to appeal following objection, the Planning
Appeal was held at the new Lowford Community Centre on the 8th of April. Following the
appeal, the planning application has been permitted, as per the decision of an
independent Planning Inspector.
Barratt Homes have submitted an application for the land at Berry Farm along Hamble
Lane to build 125 dwellings and a 70 bed care facility. This was refused planning
permission at the LAC meeting on the 24th of April.
The Council advocates the retaining of green spaces that separate the three unique
communities of Hound, Bursledon, and Hamble and the prevention of additional strains
on the existing local infrastructure.

The Great War Memorial Coupe in Priors Hill Copse
To commemorate the centenary of the Great War the FoPHC and HPC are planning to
create a memorial plantation of trees in Priors Hill Copse. One hundred saplings will
have tree guards bearing a marker, preferably showing the name of a person to be
commemorated or it will just show 'The Unknown Soldier.' The marker is intended for the
ceremony and is not designed to be permanent, the tree guards are biodegradable and will
disappear in three or four years. The plantation however will endure and be a permanent
reminder of those who gave their lives for this country. If you lost a family member in the
Great War and would like to commemorate their sacrifice, please contact the FoPHC
through the parish office. The date for the opening of the coupe, probably
early November, will be announced well in advance.
