Dear Committee Me mbers,
As a Victori an regist ered voter in the Federal Electorat e of Calwe ll, I wis h to st rongly
object to t he propo sed splitting of t he suburb o f Craigieb urn via th e m ain ro ad of
Craigiebum (Craigieburn Road West) into two separa te Federal Electorates being
Calwell and McEwen.

Iwish to point o ut that Cralgie burn is on e town, on e community and th at it should
not be divided by electoral boundaries. This will split our co mmuni t y into two.
Key reasons for th is objection include :

Craigieburn is a grow ing urb anised comm unity and to ensure we receive
adequate infrast ructure th at grows as th e community do es, we need one
voice represent ing our views.
Cra igieburn is a historically significant town that has had recent community
work to bridge older Craigieburn wi th newe r areas of this growing t own. Your
proposed division ta kes a sledgeham mer t o th e work of our community
vo luntee rs w orki ng to unit e our town.
Craigleburn is one suburb, one commun it y, and divi ding it wo uld be very
detrimental to our neighbourhood, our sense of pride and our community
spirit .
Craigleb urn is a growing urbanised comm unity and including part of it In th e
predominantly rura l electo rate of McEwen wo uld result In M cEwen having
two extremely different communities, w ith differing needs, w ith in one single
electorate (urban ised and ru ral).

I ask th at t he commission ret urn to its origi nal decision publis hed on the 30 of July
2010 t o place the ent Ire suburb of Craigieburn into th e new Federal Victo rian
Electorate of Burke with other geograph ically and demographically similar suburbs of
Roxburgh Park, Sunbury, and South Morang. Failing that, I ask that the ent ire suburb
of Cralgieburn of bprned to the electora te of C.lwell.
