Sweet Dreams Pillowcase

Cutting Instructions
Pillowcase body
From 7/8 yard cut 39 x 29 piece of flower sugar border print for pillowcase body
Ruffle prints
From ¼ yard cut (2) 3 ½ x width of fabric pink polka dot
From ¼ yard cut (2) 4 x width of fabric pink gingham
Construction all seams ¼ inch
Pillowcase body
Fold pillow case body right sides together joining 29 inch sides Stitch side seam
and pillow case bottom (Finish seams as desired)
Ruffle
Right sides together stitch short ends of polka dot fabric strips together
to make one long strip. Repeat with gingham fabric.
Stitch gingham strip to polka dot strip along one long edge.
Fold strip in half wrong sides together matching raw edges and press.
On one end fold in raw edge ½ inch and press.
Gather raw edge with gathering foot set at 6 or by sewing two rows of basting
stitches and pull up into a gathered strip.
Beginning at side seam pin folded end of ruffle to pillow case with polka dot
side of ruffle facing right side of pillowcase leaving 1 ½ inch free.
Trim leaving 1 ½ extra ruffle, inserting into open folded edge.
Stitch and finish edge.
Top stitch ruffle join closed.
Fold seam to inside of pillowcase and topstitch seam
allowance to body of pillowcase.

Cutting Instructions
From half yard fabric cut (2) 16 x 21 rectangles for bag
From half yard fabric cut (2) 16 x 21 rectangles for lining
From quarter yard fabric cut (2) 1 ½ x width of fabric strips for
ties and (1) 7 x 12 rectangle for pocket
From quarter yard of patch fabric cut (1) 5 inch square
Construction – use ¼ in seam allowances throughout
Pocket – center patch on pocket 1 inch from bottom and sides:
stitch around all sides using blanket stitch.
Fold pocket right sides together, stitch along sides, turn right side out and press.
Place raw edge of pocket on right side of bag 10 inches from bottom of bag front
with patch side down and having pocket top owards bag bottom.
Stitch across raw edge. Fold pocket up, press and topstitch sides.
Tie
Stitch 1 ½ inch strips together along short sides making one long strip.
Trim to 60 inches. Fold and press raw edges to center, fold in half, top stitch.
Bag lining
Stitch lining on three sides leaving 3 inches open along bottom
for turning. Turn right side out and press.
Outer bag
Stitch around three sides of bag leaving a 1 inch opening on one
side 2 inches from top edge.
Turn right side out and press.
Slide bag lining into bag, right sides together, stitch around top,
turn bag through opening in lining. Press.
Casing
Topstitch around bag 2 inches from top, beginning at top of side
opening. Repeat 3 inches from top at bottom of side opening,
creating a 1 inch casing for tie.
Thread tie into bag
