Sooke School District has picked three teams of builders and designers to compete for the job of constructing one of two
new high schools on the West Shore. The district issued a request for qualifications in November and chose the finalists
from six applicants.
The design-build finalists are: Heatherbrae Builders and KMBR Architects Planners; Yellowridge Construction and
Graham Hoffart Mathiasen Architects; and EllisDon-Kinetic Construction and CEI Architecture. The winning team is
expected to be announced in May.
The new school for 1,200 students will be built on the site of the former Glen Lake Elementary School, between Glen Lake
Road and Langford Road.
The district recently issued a request for qualifications to build a second school for 800 students at Royal Bay in
Colwood.
The two new schools will replace Belmont Secondary and will open in 2015.
