Guide to Identifying Transferable Skills

Guide to Identifying Transferable Skills
Consider all the skills that you’ve developed throughout your coursework, extracurricular activities, and
work experiences that can be used in many different situations. These are known as transferable skills,
and they are desired by employers because of their relevance to many occupations.
Directions: Read the skills in the categories below and underline all the skills you possess. Next, go
back and circle the 10 underlined skills you would most enjoy using on your next job. Records those
skills under the “Top Ten Skills List” on the back of this paper and provide an example of how you
demonstrated those skills either on the job, in a class, or in another activity in which you were involved.
