Ingestion:
When fumes of molten material have been inhaled:

Move person to fresh air

In case of respiratory problems move person to first aid station or hospital for
medical treatment
Any molten material on the skin or any burns should be cooled as quickly as possible by
means of cold water. Cover the wound with sterile cloth and move person to first aid station
or hospital for medical treatment
Attention: never pull off the molten material from the wound
Any material entering the eye should be flushed out with copious volumes of water

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguishing media:
Not to be used for
reasons of safety:
Exposure risks:
Protection for firefighters:
Water haze, foam, powder or carbon dioxide
Direct water jet to prevent spreading of the burning material
At complete combustion: water vapor and carbon dioxide (CO2)
At incomplete combustion: water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon
black, hydrocarbons and eventually other thermal cracking products
Full emergency equipment with self-contained breathing apparatus should be warn to
protect fire fighters from any hazardous decomposition or combustion products
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal precautions:
Prevent release of dust during grinding by use of filters.
Protect skin, eyes and hands
Environmental precautions:
For disposal considerations see Section 13
Cleanup and disposal of spill: Use suitable industrial vacuum cleaners to vacuum fines or dust.
Shovel or sweep up released material.
Avoid the generation of dust clouds.
Put into suitable containers for reclaiming or disposal.
For further information see sections 8 en 13
7. HANDELING AND STORAGE

General precautions:
Personal protection:
Technical measurements
Ventilation:
7.2 Storage
Storage accommodation:
Avoid any contact with hot materials
For more information on personal protection when handling the material see Section 8
A powder ventilation should be installed where:

melt processing of the material is carried out

solid material is being ground or machined

any high temperature processing is carried out (e.g. sealing)
Store at room temperature and atmospheric pressure
Do not store nearby inflammable materials or heat sources
Avoid electrostatic charges
Store in a dry and well ventilated places
Do not stack this product!

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
Stability:
Stable under normal circumstances (storage, treatment and use).
Conditions to avoid:
Material fines – accidentally released in air – can result in an explosive concentration (see
Sections 6 and 7.1)
Electrostatic loading:
Whenever small particles are transported (pneumatic transport systems, ventilation systems,
etc.) apply proper local grounding to prevent build-up of static electricity
Circumstances to avoid:
Avoid sparks and open fire
Do not heat material over a temperature above 300°C
Materials to avoid:
Avoid contact with strong oxidants, acids and fluor
Dangerous decomposition
On thermal degradation, reaction products of section 5 can be formed. Although highly
products:
dependent on temperature and environmental conditions, a variety of decomposition
products may be present, ranging from simple hydrocarbons (e.g. methane, ethane, propane)
to toxic and/or irritating gases (e.g. carbon monoxide, carbon dioxides, acids, ketones,
aldehydes)
