A CHALLENGE THAT IS AN OPPORTUNITY
Indian Olympic Association has come a long way since its inception in 1927. Having
held National Games in 14 cities through which we have created sports infrastructure around the country. Aided by the hosting of the SAF Games, the other multidisciplinary games through which sports infrastructure of international standards
was created in Kolkata & Chennai.
NATIONAL CLUB GAMES
The Asian Games in 1951 and 1982, the Commonwealth Youth Games held in Pune
in 2008 and the coming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010 have further
strengthened sports movement in our country.
Through the National Club Games, IOA would like to carry the Olympic message
right down to the grassroots level.
This is a challenge for the Indian Olympic Association, State Olympic Associations
and National Sports Federations, but it is a challenge we must take on if we wish to
find ourselves in the front ranks of the Global Olympic Movement. For the purpose
we would provide support in every way we can.
