Commands are used to give an order or tell someone what to do
o
There are different kinds of commands depending on the social situation
 You already learned to use familiar commands when speaking to someone you would address
as ―tú‖
 When speaking to someone who you would address as ―usted‖, or when speaking to multiple
people (―ustedes‖), use a formal command
 Formation of Formal Commands
o
Much like the negative familiar commands you have learned already, formal commands
are formed by following the steps below:
1. Start with the present tense ‗yo‘ form
2. Drop the ‗o‘ from the end
3. Add the OPPOSITE ‗usted‘ or ‗ustedes‘ form verb ending as shown below
-AR Verbs
-ER/-IR Verbs
