The purpose of the plan is to promote greater diversity and cross-cultural citizenship through curricula, co/extracurricular experiences, promotion of crosscultural understanding among the Alvernia Community, and campus programming. The purpose of campus programming is to promote awareness, acknowledgement, and acceptance of different cultures in order to create pathways of celebration, appreciation and embracement of all people. Hispanic Heritage Month Sept 15 -Oct 15 National Hispanic Heritage Month honors the culture, heritage, and contributions of Hispanic Americans each year. The event began in 1968 when Congress deemed the week including September 15 and 16 National Hispanic Heritage Week to celebrate the contributions and achievements of the diverse culture within the Hispanic Community.
