Learn how to prevent common pitfalls of action planning for school
improvement, including jumping to premature conclusions about what is
causing the problem, lack of clarity about intended outcomes, and failure
to monitor implementation and results. Experience powerful tools to help
ensure that data use leads to improved results, including a logic model for
getting from a student-learning problem and verified cause to a dataidentified student-learning goal. Please note that some of the content of
this session is covered in RBT’s Unleashing the Power of Collaborative
Inquiry: A Professional Development Program for Data Coaches program.
Participants will be able to:
 Apply a logic model to identify strategies and intended outcomes for
achieving a student-learning goal.
 Use a variety of data tools to monitor program, teacher-learning,
practice, and student-learning outcomes.
 Create action plans that are realistic, doable, and supported by
stakeholders.
 Facilitate a process of collaboratively building logic models with data
teams.
