Did you know that the Lewis and Clark
expedition started in Pittsburgh? 211 years
ago, Captain Meriwether Lewis spent 6
frustrating weeks in the Pittsburgh area
overseeing the construction of his flagship
keel boat which had its maiden voyage on
August 31, 1803. Lewis describes how he
made a landing that day on Brunot’s Island in
Pittsburgh’s West End and experienced the
first of many near disasters when a civilian
was wounded during a demonstration of his
now famous air rifle. Join local historian and
national Lewis and Clark reenactor, John
McNulty, in a paddle around this historic site
and learn more about Western Pennsylvania’s
role in this fascinating chapter of our history.

NATURAL GAS IS
CLEANER, AND GREENER!
In addition to being abundant and reliable, natural gas is among the cleanest of
all energy sources. Natural gas burns cleaner than other fossil fuels, resulting
in significantly fewer harmful emissions into the air we breathe as we work and
play outdoors. In our homes, when we use natural gas heating and appliances,
we’re helping to cut back on our own and the nation’s carbon footprint.

Natural gas can save you some “green,” as well. The cost of natural gas has
fallen to historic lows, and is expected to remain low for years to come. So
consumers who convert to natural gas heating will save thousands of dollars
on energy bills. Significant savings can also be realized with gas appliances.
For example, converting to a gas dryer will cut your energy cost for that
appliance by fifty percent.
Whether you’re concerned about the environment, concerned about your
bottom line, or both – look into your energy options at peoples-gas.com.
