Manufacturing and Industrial Technology & Sheet Metal and Structural Metal Occupations July 2016 Prepared by Los Angeles/Orange Counties Center of Excellence for Labor Current and Future Employment The manufacturing and industrial technology and sheet metal and structural metal programs train students for twenty-one different manufacturing occupations. Collectively, these occupations are expected to decline by 4% within Los Angeles and Orange Counties by 2020. The occupation expecting the largest growth is metal and plastic molding, coremaking, and casting machine setters, operators, and tenders. This occupation is expected to grow 7% by 2020, which is an increase of 319 jobs. In the last three years, 145 awards have been conferred. Notably, Long Beach City College has conferred 62 of these awards, accounting for 43% of the regional awards.
