Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) On Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities Minority Entity (ME) “buy-‐In” Informational Application of Interest We are pleased to announce that Langston University has been awarded a $4.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education- National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) to establish a new Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities. As a part of RRTC activities, we will be sponsoring a “Minority Entity Relationship Building and Buy-In Informational on RRTC Services and Opportunities” in Atlanta Georgia on April 3rd thru April 4th, 2014 at the W Atlanta – Buckhead Hotel. The RRTC will sponsor (i.e., purchase plane fare, hotel and per diem) a select number of Minority Entity presidents/chief executive officers or their delegates (i.e. Provost or Chief Research Officer) to attend the informational. The purpose of this letter is to invite your institution to apply to participate in the informational. The goal of the meeting is to provide you with information about RRTC sponsored resources (e.g., $100,000 subcontracts), services and grant proposal development technical assistance aimed at building disability research capacity and research infrastructure on your campus. If you or your representative is interested in participating in the “Minority Entity Relationship Building and “Buy In” Informational on RRTC Services and Opportunities”, please visit www.capacitybuilding -rrtc.edu and “click” the link below Minority Entity “Buy In” Informational Application of Interest) and complete the “Application of Interest” by 5:00pm on February28, 2014. “Buy In” Informational Application of Interest Selection Criteria A total of twenty (20) Minority Entities will be selected to participate in the informational meeting. The following criteria will be used to evaluate and select the Minority Entities to participate. Institutions selected to participate in the “Minority Entity Relationship Building and “Buy In” Informational on RRTC Services and Opportunities” meeting, must meet thefollowing criteria: A. Minority Entity Status: (i.e. historically Black colleges/universities [HBCUs], Hispanicserving institutions [HSIs], and American Indian tribal colleges/universities [AITCUS] as authorized by section 21 (b)(2)(A) of the Rehabilitation Act. [5 points] B. Institution’s Academic Programs: Rehabilitation Counseling/Education, health, or allied health academic and/or research program or teaching program in the social sciences (e.g., social work, education, economics, psychology, counseling), or a closely related program. [5 points] C. Number of NIDRR/National Institutes of Health (NIH)/Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) funded projects in the past 5 years (5 points will be given for each NIDDR/NIH/RSA funded project. [Unlimited Points] D. Infrastructure for Research Grant Development: (infrastructure might include a sponsored programs/research officer, a sponsored programs/research office with an administrator and staff). [10 points] E. Research and Seed Money Programs: Currently operating programs for making seed money available to faculty in order to assist in the development of individual research agendas and/or to develop proposals for submissions to granting entities such as but not limited to NIDDR, NIH or RSA.
