Chazak Quarterly Update - AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER 2015 YOUTH Chazak has once again started the Bat Mitzvah programme for girls in Year 7 with candle making, challah baking, chessed programmes and teaching the girls what it means to be a true Bat Yisrael in a chilled and practical way. After the success of our Bar Mitzvah programme, the boys are back in town for a Year 9 weekly after school programme in Chazak with FIFA, air hockey, delicious dinner and some Torah every Monday afternoon. In conjunction with Heichal Leah, Tiferet Eyal, Finchley Adani, Zichron Shmuel, Haderet Yosef and Ohel David, Chazak runs a communal Avot Ubanim programme every Motzei Shabbat with over 50 people attending. TEENS Following the Chazak Israel summer trip, participants continue their growth with the trip’s madrichim every Tuesday at our weekly evenings of relaxation and inspiration. The night starts with a deluxe supper, followed by pool, table tennis and Torah study. The Chazak teens minyan in conjunction with Od Yosef Chai is once again in full swing and we held special Sukkot services as well as our annual Sukkot party. UNIVERSITY While the young men of our community prepare to be the future leaders and entrepreneurs of British Jewry by earning their degrees at university, in Chazak’s weekly Thursday night Chavruta programme, we prepare them to exemplify Torah Im Derech Eretz by going through practical cases of business ethics. On Shabbat UK, Chazak Rabbis were busy all over London speaking and hosting meals to more than 400 people one of which was a lunch for uni students hosted by Rabbi Levy. YOUNG PROFESSIONALS Chazak’s new Monday night shiur for young professionals aged 22-26 is a hit with men from all over London, including Stamford Hill. After the terrible stabbing attacks all over Israel, Chazak hosted a shiur in the centre with over 30 young professionals on what is the Jewish response and what we here in London can do. COMMUNITY Over the High Holy Days, Chazak Rabbis inspired more than 4,000 people in over 15 shuls, 10 schools and many homes all over London. TRIPS The Chazak Israel summer trip was the biggest ever, with more than 25 participants. They had the time of their lives paintballing, riding Segways, doing water sports and abseiling, as well as participating in daily prayers and attending classes from some of Israel’s best speakers and inspirational educators.
