Survey Results 2017 - Impact100 Melbourne

2017 Impact100 Melbourne members’ survey
Current and past members of Impact100 Melbourne told us:

Education was the most preferred theme for 2017, closely followed by family and community

Friends were the most common way members first heard about us, with work colleagues also common

The most common factors influencing members to join were:


Having the capacity to do so

Importance of encouraging giving in our community

Gaining exposure to new causes and organisations

Enjoyment of the process of giving
Members considered that:

Charitable giving was personally fullfilling

They have developed skills or networks in philanthropy and social impact

They had the opportunity to influence the theme and selection of grant recipients —although a
third neither agreed or disagreed with this

The theme doesn’t influnce members to join that year and nor does the theme or past grant
recipients influence joining

For future communication:

Half the members wanted to hear more from grant recipients

Most members hear enough from the commitee and have sufficient opportunities to attend
events and site visits
Thank very much to those who completed the survey —the results
will help shape the direction of Impact100 Melbourne and how the
commitee will work with members over the coming years.
Detailed results
In Februay 2017 a survey was sent to 172 email addresses of members who had joined Impact100
Melbourne since it started in 2013. A total of 31 responses were received, a response rate of 18 per
cent.
In addition to the results graphed below, we received a number of comments. We appreciate these,
as they give us specific advice to guide us into the future. We received a range of comments, both
positive and negative. Examples include:
“It is very important for Impact100 to retain on its committee a broad spectrum of people with good
connections to the community. It would be sad to see the commmittee become dominated by
people interested in the theory of philanthropy rather than people who are willing to go out and find
people to donate”
“Impact100 Melbourne has done a great job at opening up philanthropy to a wider group –
congratulations – keep up the good work”
“Excellent example to my children, giving back”
“Great organisation to be involved with, enjoy the impact effect that we give to the community”
“Fabulous concept which was fabulously executed in 2013 – 2015. I didn’t participate in 2016
because I found the theme too nebulous”
