Sara McCarthy

Sara completed her pupillage at St Mary’s Family Law Chambers
and was taken on as a full tenant in October 2010. Between 2007
and 2008, as a paralegal, she attended hearings at the Royal
Courts of Justice in respect of Hague Convention proceedings
relating to America, Malta, Australia and the Bahamas. During
this period Sara also gained experience in respect of Ancillary
Relief and Private Law cases. Her experience in private practice
was invaluable and it was during that time Sara realised that she
wanted to pursue a career as a barrister.
Summary
As a barrister, Sara has quickly established a reputation in Ancillary
Relief and Childcare proceedings in particular.
Sara is happy to undertake interim and first hearings right up to Final
Hearings. She has experience in cases under the Trust of Land and
Appointment of Trustees Act and Matrimonial Causes Act.
Sara has also established a busy childcare practice including cases
involving the following issues: neglect, physical and emotional abuse
all varying in degrees of severity and non-accidental injury. Sara has
represented a variety of clients including Local Authorities, parents,
Guardians, and the Official Solicitor.
