DerickBerrythankedtheboardandcommitteesfortheirworkandbelievesthatTourismFernieisseen
asanindustryleaderacrosstheprovince.Heaskedforclarityonhowthechangestoadministration
costshadbeenachieved.
• JikkeexplainedthatTourismFerniewillnowbeinlinewithDestinationBC’s&MRDTbest
practicesofallocatingstaffpayrollthatisspecifictoplanningandimplementingmarketing
initiativestothemarketingexpenselineitemsinsteadofalltoAdministration.TheTourism
Ferniefinancialbudgetforthecurrentfiscalhavebeenadjustedtoreflectthisandonlyhours
allocatedtoadminareincludedassuch.
Derickalsoaskedforclarityonwinter/summermarketingsplit,andchangestostructuralsupportfrom
KRTandDBC.
• JikkeexplainedthattherehasrecentlybeenachangewiththerelationshipwithRCR,following
extensivediscussionsthemembershiparrangementwithRCRhasbeenupdatedtoreflect
markettrendsandopportunities.Higher%ofmarketingbudgetwillbefocusedonspring,
summerandfallthaninpast,closerto50-55%.Jikkeconfirmedthattherearenomarketing
requirementsattachedtothenewRCRmembership.Newrevenueswillbecominginfrom
DBCbutstillwaitingtoseehowthatwillallworkoutinthefutureastherearealotofnew
programsinplace.
