Don’t wait until senior year to take the test for the first time.
Scholarship deadlines are approaching!
The scholarship list is posted on the FHS Guidance website and is updated as scholarship information is received. Hard copies of scholarships are
housed in the Guidance Office.
Scholarships are available for specific colleges, trade and technical
schools, community colleges, academic performance, financial need,
sports and much more!
IMPORTANT: PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE YOUR
SCHOLARSHIPS ARE DUE. SOME NEED TO BE SENT DIRECTLY
BY THE STUDENT. ANY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS DUE
BACK TO FHS NEED TO BE IN MRS. SNYDER’S HANDS BY 7:30
AM ON THE DUE DATE. NO EXCEPTIONS!

AP/Dual Enrollment, Mountain Vista Governor’s School Information Program: On
Thursday, April 7th from 7:00 to 8:00 PM
Fauquier High School will have our second
annual AP/DE, Mountain Vista Governor’s
School Information Program. This is an opportunity for students and parents to meet
with AP/DE teachers to discuss course expectations, summer assignments and converse
concerning these classes. Representatives
from Mountain Vista Governor’s School and
Lord Fairfax Community College will also be
here to answer questions. Please come out to
learn more about these exciting programs.

Senator Mark R. Warner invites high school and middle school students, their parents, and guidance
counselors to Academy Day 2016. Attendees will be provided a comprehensive overview of the
United States service academies and their admission processes. In addition, students will be able
to meet with officials from all five academies as well as representatives from ROTC programs,
Virginia Tech, and the Virginia Military Institute.
Representatives from Virginia Congressional offices will be available to answer questions
regarding the application procedures for congressional nominations.

Is your student struggling academically? Here are some suggestions:
Free NHS tutoring is offered every TUESDAY from 2:45 – 3:45 in the Library. Tutors are available for all
core subjects and foreign languages. Students do not have to pre-register…just show up ready to learn!
A+ /Advisory? Students get 30 minutes of time to get help in a class they are struggling in, to review for
AP tests, to revisit SOL subjects, make up tests, etc. It is the student’s job to get a pass from the
teacher so they may leave homeroom to go see another teacher. Please encourage your student not to
wait until the last minute to request the pass.

THE ASVAB CAREER EXPLORATION PROGRAM is a career planning and exploration program that combines a multipleaptitude test with an interest self-assessment and a wide range of career exploration tools. And it's FREE !
The ASVAB will be offered April 12th in the Falcon Room during blocks 1 and 2. Students will then be invited to the
computer lab at a later date to receive their results online.
11th and 12th grade students may sign up in the counseling office .

The above website will provide information regarding dual enrollment. During
the summer, the placement test will be given at Fauquier High School. The
date has not been scheduled at this time. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Toothman, Guidance Department, at 540-422-7307.
Soon, we will be emailing parents/guardians with a web link to invite them to use Infinite Campus, our
student information system. It is our hope that once parents have this link and create a login, they will
be able to update and verify contact information for students in our system.
We sent a form home two weeks ago. It was due April 1st. If you have not yet checked your student’s
form and signed it/corrected it, please do so ASAP. If you do not have an active email in FCPS system,
please create one and call Mrs. Tamie Robinson so that she may add it to your student’s information.

Important reminder about AP Testing:
All students enrolled in an AP class during the first
or second semester MUST sit for the corresponding
AP test.
If your student skips the AP test, they will not get the
added AP weight for their GPA nor will the class be
listed as an AP class on the transcript.

Attention seniors attending Lord Fairfax Community
College in the fall: The LFCC placement test will be
given on April 7th at 8:30 AM at Fauquier High School.
The sign-up sheet is located in the Guidance Office. Prior to taking the test, the LFCC application must be completed. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Toothman in the Guidance Office.
The FHS Scholarship Night will be
held Tuesday, May 17th at 6:45 PM.
Only students receiving awards will
be invited to attend. The students/
families will find out that evening
WHAT and HOW MUCH has been
won. It is a very exciting evening!
