Please avoid scary costumes, no weapons or face paint. Students are required to wear costumes that allow easy restroom usage without teacher assistance. A big thank you to the Council on Aging for making these wonderful aprons for our kindergarten class If your child has a food allergy or intolerance, you may send in prepackaged safe snacks for your child to eat at the Halloween party. See a copy of the Xavier Food Policy in this newsletter. Next week, we will celebrate a Holy Day of Obligation, All Saints Day, on Tuesday, 11/1 at Annunciation Chapel (weather permitting) at 8:30 a.m. All are encouraged to attend. Happy Bear visits Xavier next Wednesday, 11/9/16! We look forward to hosting Sunflower House and sharing information on touching safety with our preschool through second grade students. Due to a scheduling conflict, Interstate Studios has changed our Picture Retakes Day to 11/10/16. Retakes will be at Xavier (Muncie Campus) at 8:30 a.m. in the gym. Please check the most updated school calendar, as we have some No School Days coming up in November. Teachers are planning and preparing a great celebration for Mother Xavier Ross Week, 11/7-11/11. Our service project will be Cash for Care and proceeds will go to St. Vincent’s Clinic, in Leavenworth. Happy Halloween! A Note from Sister Jane Halloween (All Hollows Eve) has really evolved through the years – from “pagan” beginnings in medieval times into a favorite fun day for children (and many adults!) enjoy the day. The Feast of All Saints Day – for Catholics is Tuesday, November 1st and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Father Frank will celebrate a school Mass on Tuesday in Annunciation Chapel or the school gym depending on the weather. You are always welcome to join us! Third grade PE class utilizing the parachute for PE 11th November is a double holiday for us. We honor our Veterans that day, but we also remember the founding of the Sisters of Charity. November 11 is the day Mother Xavier and a small group of sisters arrived in Leavenworth, via riverboat, 158 years ago. If you would like to know about our history, visit Xavier Catholic School the week of November 8th – 10th, when the school hallways become an open book featuring fun and important facts about the Sisters of Charity. You may even want to participate in the “scavenger hunt” and help us hunt for facts! At our school Mass on November 9th we will celebrate Mother Xavier and the Sisters of Charity. It will be a grand celebration. Please join us! As we remember our founders, we recall how they reached out to others, especially through the ministries of education and health. Honoring this tradition, we participate in Cash for Care, a ministry to aid St. Vincent’s Clinic as they reach out to serve the uninsured and under-insured people of Leavenworth. The students will be bringing home medicine bottles, we ask that your family donate what you can, while being as generous as possible. There are no classroom quotas, no rewards, no contests; only expectation that everyone participate and return their bottle with any amount. Thank you for your participation.
