Here are some suggested activities to do whilst you are at home during any snow days this
session. You do not have to complete all of the activities each day. Can you think of any extra
activities?

Write an acrostic poem using different WOW words to describe the winter’s day.
Do some research to find out where it is most likely to snow in the world and why.
Write a snow/winter alphabet, e.g. a – avalanche, b – blizzard.
Write an imaginative story with the title ‘Stuck in the Snow Storm…’
Numeracy

Times table revision.
Keep a diary of your day, recording the times in 12 and 24 hour clock. Try to note down
the temperature outside at different times in the day too.
Health and Wellbeing

Work with an adult to bake or cook a winter meal and then write out the recipe to share
with classmates, e.g. cookies, scones, soup, stew.
Make up 4 activities/games you could play in the snow.
Art

Go outside and play with your friends – what different snow sculptures can you make –
take a photograph before they melt.
Look outside your window and create a detailed drawing of what you see.
