SO WHAT….Needs To Get Lost So I Can Be Found?
More Than Bread
Asbury has a return of a small group opportunity for every adult at Asbury!
This unique offering provides groups of 8-9 adults to come together once a
month, at your group's convenience and share in fellowship over food. It’s
that simple. This dinner group gives us all a way to connect and meet in
homes over a six-month time frame. Group members will rotate hosting a
dinner time for their group and then mix it up again. Our purpose is to meet,
grow and connect in community outside of the church classrooms. Please
sign up in the lobby and make plans to attend the kick-off pot luck dinner in
the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, April 21st at 5pm. Nursery provided. For more
information, contact Kelsey Trimble at [email protected] or Angela Pfanner at [email protected].
Join the J.O.Y. Club For A Musical Story
Please join us for a coffee and cookie morning at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April
2, here at the church as we enjoy “Louisiana History in Music and Lore” by
the Company Repertory Theatre Eclectic of the Bossier Arts Council. For
more information, please contact Marilyn Rech at 746-2588.
Asbury Women’s Retreat
Please join us for “Spring Up and Clean Up” from 9:30 am to noon on Saturday, April 6 here at Asbury. The women’s retreat will be led by Debbie Covington, founder of Journey of Sisters Ministry. Cost $10. Please sign up by
April 5. For more info, contact Angela at [email protected].
Louisiana Sunday Night
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a spring evening of fun and fellowship at Asbury’s ballfield from 5-7 pm on Sunday, April 7. The evening will feature live music entertainment, line and square dancing, inflatables and kite
flying as well as hamburgers, hot dogs and crawfish meals. Donations accepted. For more information, please contact Angela Pfanner at 746-5349.
Lydia Ladies Meeting
The Lydia Circle will meet at the church on Wednesday, April 10. Please meet
in the Seekers Room at 8:45 am to sign cards and then we will take a spring
road trip to Creekwood Gardens near Arcadia and also visit Driskill Mountain,
the highest point in Louisiana. Lunch will be in Arcadia. For more information
and to RSVP, contact Sandra Caraway at 746-6649.
Connection News
Connection, our midweek time to enjoy a drop-in home style meal together
and re-connect at Asbury, has been extended by popular demand. Our winter/spring Connection session continues Wednesday through May 1 with
great class options for all ages. Nursery provided. Bring a friend, a neighbor
and join us from 5:15pm -7:15pm. On April 3, our meal will be lasagna, salad,
French bread and assorted desserts. Room 28 for adults will continue along
with several new adult class options:
Discovering the Will of God: In this new four-week Connection program,
Rev. Ken Norton will be using Leslie Weatherhead’s book, The Will of God. We
will explore the three expressions of God’s will for us as outlined in his book.
On the fourth week, we will examine ways of discerning the will of God for
us. The first session begins on April 3 and continue through May 1. Come prepared to have a fun time exploring God’s will for our lives.
Table Talk will be in the Fellowship Hall on April 24;
And Hands-On Missions will be in the Fellowship Hall on May 1.
For more information, contact Angela @ [email protected].
Methodist Jeopardy Teams Now Forming
In good, clean Methodist type fun, we will be challenging one another to a
great game of Methodist Jeopardy. The game will be April 17, celebrating the
close of the spring Connection semester. It’s time to get your team together.
Teams can be up to three people and must submit the required entry fee of
donation items for Renesting by April 14 to the church office. For more information, please contact the church office at [email protected].

The ministries of the church are open to all persons, but if you are at the
place in your faith journey where you are ready to join Asbury United
Methodist Church you may do so by transfer of membership from another Methodist Church or denomination, or by profession of faith. We
invite you to come forward during the singing of the closing song/hymn
and allow us to celebrate with you this decision, or you may wish to
speak to one of the pastors following the service. More information can
be found in the Joining brochure on the back of the pew in front of you.
Keeping up with Asbury UMC

If you want to meet with a group of people that will be praying for the
services on the first Saturday of the month, we will meet at 4 p.m. in the
sanctuary. You won't be called on to pray out loud; just walk the sanctuary in private prayer, or pray at the altar, or pray with a friend. We hope
you will join Rev. Ken Norton and others praying for our congregation.
