TUCKSHOP NEWS
Welcome to Term 2 in the tuckshop! Yesterday your child
should have brought home the great new menu. A colour
version is available on the school website.
New items include my delicious Jungle Chicken; it is a beautiful
mild Massaman Thai Curry that kids love, this will be served with
rice. I have also invented my own version of a pie, a dinner roll
with the inside taken out and filled with my yummy savoury pie
mince, topped with cheese and baked until golden. For a bit of
fun, I called it a UFO (unidentified food object). The kids were so
excited to read this when I gave them their menu’s yesterday, I
have the feeling they will be very popular! The Yummy Snack
Tray is another new option, carrot sticks, my homemade cheesy
dip, cheese, rice crackers, and seasonal fresh fruit; this is a
fantastic snack for them to set aside in the class fridge for
second break. There is also a new great value Toastie Meal
Deal for $6.00—this includes toastie, milk & sippah straw and an
apple slinky.
On the 30th April, 1st & 2nd May, Yeppoon Camera Club is
hosting the Photography Society of Queensland’s annual
convention. There will be 115 delegates and our great little
tuckshop will be catering morning tea, lunch and dinner for
them over the 3 days. It is a wonderful fundraising opportunity
for our school and I am going to need A LOT of help. If you can
spare an hour or two, or any time at all, please call in and see
me to put your name down on the roster.
Remember to keep up to date with tuckshop news on
Facebook, just search The Tuckshop @ Farnborough. Have a
great week everyone.
Regards, Amanda ☺

12th April 2016
Dear Parents, Students & Staff
Hello to all! I’m the Acting Principal of Farnborough State School for the remainder of the 2016 school year. For those of you
yet to meet me, I am Helen Heery and live only minutes from this delightful school.
Where before Farnborough? Previously I have worked at:
• Yeppoon State Primary School as a classroom teacher,
• in the Torres Straits as a teaching principal,
• Taranganba State School as the Deputy Principal,
• CQU as Sub Dean of Education and
• Park Avenue State School in Rockhampton as the Principal.
All roads lead to Farnborough and I’m delighted to be here. This is only my second day and I know it will be a great year.
Students are focussed and happy, there is a great depth of capacity and commitment in the staff and parents are welcoming
and involved. The grounds and facilities are second to none. I feel privileged to work in such beautiful surroundings with you
and your children. Please take the opportunity to pop in and say hello or have a chat when you see
me out and about.
Kensie raises money for Cancer research
Symbolic of the spirit of Farnborough, Bucket Filler Kensie demonstrated her empathy for those
suffering from cancer by having her hair shaved on Sunday of this week. Kensie chose to donate
the money raised to research to assist those who have a disease that prevents their hair from
growing. Kensie’s team has raised more than $3000 to date and will continue to seek donations until
the end of April.
Yeppoon State High School Japanese extension Program.
Congratulations to Kensie and Violette for winning a place in the YSHS Japanese extension program being held Monday 18th
April. Kensie and Violette won their positions in the program by addressing the criteria of planning to attend YSHS; high
achievement levels in Japanese; consistent exemplary behaviour in Japanese class and a keen interest in the Japanese
language and culture. Well done!
Welcome to New Staff
I am not the only change in staffing this term with Jan Clarke replacing Raelene Shearer for the term whilst Raelene enjoys
some well-deserved Long Service Leave.
Also, multi-talented Kathy King joins us in yet another role by filling in behind Margie Grant for the coming two weeks – PE.
A ‘Big Thank You’ to Miss Nielsen
from Kalus.
She helps me pick books that I can
read. She is always kind and is a
nice teacher. The books are really
cool.
I really like chapter books. My
favourite books are documentaries
because they teach me a lot about
real things.
Helen Heery (Acting Principal)
Congratulations Kaius and Charlie
TUH invited students to submit ‘Big Thank
You’ notes to show their appreciation of
those who are great teachers that inspire
writing. Kalus and Charlie’s thank you notes
were selected for publication.
School Photos Thursday, 21 April
Students will be bringing home school photo
order details this week. Please read the
instructions carefully. Students are reminded
to wear their formal school uniform.
A ‘Big Thank You’ to Mrs Harris
from Charlie.
Mrs Harris likes us to use special
words that are better than normal
ones when writing stories. She
says by reading more books we
will learn more of these tricky
special words and be able to put
them in our work.
