Newsletter Number 34 – 4th November 2015
OUR VALUE & VIRTUE: UNITY & TRUST
Welcome
Next Wednesday – 11th November is our school Athletic Sports Day. It is a day where our children are able to show off
their talents and put their hours of practice to good use. The sports are held at the Puketapu Domain on Dartmoor
Road. Although there are loads of lovely shade trees, there are events that will be in the sun. We request that all
students wear shoes to walk to the domain, sunblock, a hat, have plenty of food and fluids on them and of course wear
their house colours. This is a tiring day for everyone so an early night would be advised the night before!
Parent League will be selling sausages – $1.50 and ice tubes - $1.00 on the day. Orders will be taken before school on
the day of the sports outside the school hall. If for some reason the weather is not ideal the postponement date is
Thursday 12th November.

Next Friday the Parent League will be hosting a Halloween themed school disco for our children. If you are
available to help out please contact the school office. A student disco permission slip will be sent home next
Thursday with your child. Please ensure your child brings the permission slip to the disco as there will be no

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
The annual Scholastic Book Fair gets under way next week. We will once again be asking for parent helpers please.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
.
From the 12th – 17th November the Scholastic Book Fair will be at school. This was a very popular event last year and is a
fantastic fundraiser for our school with good quality books for all ages on sale. Great for Xmas!
Books will be on display in the Hall (Committee Room) between 2.50pm – 3.30pm on the above dates.
We will also have sales on the night of the disco.
How it works:
Pupils will be given the opportunity in school time to view (only) the books for sale. They will be given a wish list slip to
complete if they see any books they like. They will bring this home (along with a specials brochure).
If you would like to view these books and the others for sale, feel free to come along to the school hall in the hours stated
above where you can view and purchase if you would like to.
Payment options: Eftpos, Credit card, cheque or cash.
The books are purchased, paid for and taken home on the day. There are approx. 2-3 copies of each book.
This is a great chance to come along and view a fantastic range of books for sale.
Excellent timing for Christmas!
Congratulations to Rylee Mason (pictured) who was placed 2nd in the Junior Inter School North
Island Mounted Games Championship Competition. Rylee was paired up with another Hawkes Bay
rider. It was a tough competition so Rylee did very well to get this placing.
Well done to Annie Moffett and her pony who was awarded Reserve Champion Pony at the
Carterton Show last week.
