Instructions for Art Appreciation
1. You can view the artists in any order you want to this year.
Pick one that interests you and get started!
2. View the artist’s links and read any pages in the Story of
Painting that are assigned.
3. Pick four paintings to complete a picture study. Each week make one of the
paintings the wallpaper background on the desktop computer.
4. Print one painting out for each artist studied and adhere it to the artist notebook
page.
5. Complete the notebook page and put it into your art binder.
6. Pick one of the paintings to duplicate either with markers, oil pastels, oil paints,
watercolors, or acrylics.
Instructions for Music Appreciation
1. You have six weeks to listen to each composer. This gives you a lot
of time to spend learning about their style and sound.
2. Listen to the suggested pieces and then choose one to be your
focus piece. Listen to this piece at least ten times over the six week
period. Yes, I want you to keep track of how many times you listen to it.
3. Complete a notebook page for each composer.
4. At the end of the six weeks, you will need to share your focus piece with the family
in some way. You can have us listen, you can play it on your own instrument, or
you can come up with some other creative way to share it with us.
