Homework due in 10th May
Identify similes, metaphors , onomatopoeia, alliteration, rhyme and personification by underlining them and in
the right hand box beside the line record.
Personification: giving human actions and abilities to non-human things, – the leaves danced across the road.
Simile: comparing one thing with another e.g. as fierce as a tiger shark.
Metaphor: comparing two things e.g. The old, oak tree was an enormous, green umbrella in the sky.
Onomatopoeia: a word that copies a sound e.g bang!
Alliteration: words that begin with the same letter e.g. simple Simon
Rhyme: one or two words at the end of a line that have the same sound.
