Henry Hudson explored
in the years 1607-1611.
Henry was English,
but worked for the
Dutch East India
Company.
On his first voyage the
Muscovy Company paid
for the journey. on his
second voyage the
same company paid for
the journey. on his
third voyage, the Dutch
East India Company paid
for the journey. for
the fourth voyage, an
English business paid
for the journey.
on henry hudson’s
first 3 voyages the
trading companies
wanted him to find the
northeast passage. on
his last voyage, an
English business
wanted him to find the
northwest passage.
unfortunately, henry
hudson failed to find
what he was looking
for on all of his
voyages. He is still,
however, very famous
because he discovered
the Hudson Strait, The
Hudson River, the
Hudson Bay, and Maine!
Henry hudson prepared
his crew by bringing
onions , hardtack (hard
crackers) water, meat
and carrots.
I
was
hired by
trading
companies.
They wanted
Me to find
the
northeast
passage.
this is henry hudson when his crew left him
in the tiny boat with seven other sailors.
Henry hudson traveled by boat using the
stars and the sun for navigation. he was an
excellent navigator, so he didn’t need a
compass.
Henry hudson
benefitted his country
by helping discover
new lands.
I was
English,
but worked
for the Dutch
East India
Company.
the Dutch East India company wanted hudson
to find a northeast passage from Europe to
Asia. On his first voyage, hudson failed
because the ship was blocked by an iceberg.
on his second voyage, hudson was again
blocked by an iceberg. On his third voyage,
he did not fail, but he turned around and he
found Maine.
During their fourth voyage, Henry Hudson and
his crew began to starve. the crew thought
that hudson had a secret stash of food. They
betrayed him and decided to put hudson on a
boat with his son and all his loyal crew
members. they were never seen again.
I was
unsuccessful
in all my
voyages.
