Int 2 Day 76 HW

CL 3-115. Salvador has a hotdog stand 58 meters from the base of the Space Needle in Seattle. He
prefers to work in the shade and knows that he can calculate when his hotdog stand will be in the
shade if he knows the height of the Space Needle. To measure its height, Salvador stands at the
hotdog stand, gets out his clinometer, and measures the angle to the top of the Space Needle to be
80°. Salvador’s eyes are 1.5 meters above the ground. Assuming that the ground is level between
the hotdog stand and the Space Needle, how tall is the Space Needle?
CL 3-119. For each diagram, write an equation and solve to find the value for each variable.
CL 3-120. Copy the diagram at right onto your paper.
a. Are the triangles similar? If so, show your reasoning with a
flowchart.
b.
If AB = 14, AC = 20, and DE = 12, find CE.
CL 3-122. Graph the points (3, –4) and (7, 2) on graph paper and draw the line segment and a slope
triangle that connects the points. Find:
4-7. To paint a house, Travis leans a ladder against the wall. If the ladder is 16 feet long and it
makes contact with the house 14 feet above ground, what angle does the ladder make with the
ground? Draw a diagram of this situation and show all work.
4-8. Copy and complete each of the Diamond Problems below. The pattern used in the Diamond
Problems is shown at right.
