SITUATION:
A coil adapter kit accessory is now available to provide a proper fit for upflow or horizontal
applications between the coil and furnace where recommended for a transition. For example, the coil
installation instructions have recommended field fabricated transitions in applications when a larger
coil is centered over a smaller furnace cabinet.
There are three kits, see table 1. Each kit comes in two pieces with screws to attach the assembly
together and secure it to the furnace. Kits include an installation instruction and are designed to fit
the 35” condensing gas furnaces. However, the kits can be used on 33⅓” mid-efficiency furnaces but
may require additional sheet metal or filler pieces due to the shorter length.

Due to the critical nature of the N coil air flow to prevent water blow off or coil freeze up issues, the
following recommendations expand upon the current information in the N coil install instructions.
