Please join us for the 30th Annual celebration of The Rev.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This very diverse, multicultural
and multigenerational event is one of the largest celebrations on the Westside. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Westside Coalition encourages everyone to make this
holiday “a day on” and not just another day off. We have a
very dynamic speaker, Gabriella Rosco of Clergy and Laity
United for Economic Justice (CLUE-LA) as well as a powerful theme, “The Fierce Urgency of Now.” Also this year we
will be presenting Ocean Park Community Center (OPCC)
with our Community Light Award.

Monday, January 19, 2015- 9:00 am to 10:30 am:
30th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
An entertaining and inspirational event celebrating Rev. Dr. King Jr’s ideals and vision for a peaceful, harmonious
and just society for all people. The 2015 celebration will feature Keynote Speaker Gabriella Rosco of CLUE-LA
(Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice). Additional activities include education awards presented to local
students, inspirational readings and music. This year’s Community Light Award will be presented to Ocean Park
Community Center (OPCC) recently featured in Seascape.

Community Involvement Fair - 10:30 am to Noon:
Follows immediately after the annual celebration. Community organizations will meet and greet visitors and
provide informational materials. (Refreshments provided.)
The 2015 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend of Celebrations is presented by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Westside Coalition and is sponsored by the City of Santa Monica, SGI-USA , Santa Monica College, Santa Monica College
Associates, Rand Corporation, City TV and other individuals, organizations and corporate contributors.
All events are free except the Prayer Breakfast and open to the public.
