For Clustering you must produce a cluster, a one page single spaced prose or a 20 line
poem. You will hand in a rough draft of the cluster, rough draft of the 1 page pros.e/
poem and a final copy of the 1 page prose/poem
For Cubing you must produce a cube for each entry (describe, compare/ contrast, free
associate, analyze, argue, and apply). Each entry should be a minimum of 5 lines. Single
spaced and a page long. You will hand in a rough draft and a final typed copy.
It will be due on Wednesday, Aug. 20,2014. Minimum 1 page single spaced for prose;
minimum of 20 lines for poetry.

Overwhelmed
Overwhelmed is the feeling of gut wrenching anxiety, that in the back of your mind tells
you ... "you need to do MORE!t>

It is when there are scholarship and college applications to turn in, and every time you
have a brief moment to relax, your parents are there telling- you to "Get on it girl! Write
those papers!"
Ijust want, for one moment, time to be me. To relax and have one second of bliss to
regain my life into my own hands and to have no pressure and no stress.
I'm tired of doing more and feeling like it isn't enough. I'm tired oftaking seven classesat the high school, then going to night school just so I can say that I have a scholastic

diploma.
I feel like there is so much for me to do, and so little time to do it all.

bigger picture of my life.'

Band and choir"almost seem like chores, when I should think of them as being fun. The
auditions, the pressure of artistic excellence, and 'the determination to be the best is
just. _.overwhelming .(for lack of a better term).
I just wish that for once that insteadof being submerged into "what do I have to do next",
I can be underwhelmed.

Cubing
Describe it: Creativity is a gift that a person does or does net-have. It is a way of doing things that
are fur beyond the normal 'degree of thinking. Often times, it is inspired by something that has
happened to the person. People that are very creative are usually better at art, music, dance, drama
and different types of school projects. This is a very positive trait have and many times 1 wish that
1 could be more creative like other people that I see around me.

Analyze it: I hate it when people compare things that other people'have made. Everybody haS '.
~fferent ideas and opinions. You might think that one pairiting superb but the next-person might
think that·it is really ugly. There shouldn't be a rating system on someone's creativity. Everybody

Argue (or or agairist it: In my opinion creativity is in the eyes of the beholder. There really can't
be such a thing as good.art or good music because every person has there own opinion on what
"good" is, Some ofthe:rap music and styles out there I wouJdjust rather not listen to becau~ I
can't stand it but yet other people only like listening to rap and wouldn't listen to classical if ~
'got $100. The creativity <:>f a piece of music or art can ·be debated. ,I really don't think that there is
, any way to judge a person's creativity, Also, as I said before, creativity is a gift and we shouldn~t
look do",'O'upon someone who just doesn't have that gift.

Apply it: There is no official way to apply this except in our own lives. Don't judge. yourself
harshly when ~meone does ,something that you think is so much better than yours. Don't put
yourself down but instead be happy for that person that they have such a creative side to them,
Also don't put down other people's creative works because you think yours is better. May\>!; you
",ill enjoy doing things a lot more if you stop being so critical and just have more fun.
