CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, KEEP JACKSONVILLE BEAUTIFUL
EXPANDS THIRD ANNUAL“AMERICA RECYCLES DAY”
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 8 , 2012 – The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful has
expanded its partnership with Republic Services by including three local paper shredding organizations and a
local metal recycler that will set up two additional recycling sites as part of the 3rd annual America Recycles
Day next month.
The community-wide recycling collection event, a nationwide initiative by Keep America Beautiful, will be held
at the following locations and times on Thursday, November 15:
Prime Osborn Convention Center, 1000 Water Street, 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Kmart, 500 Atlantic Boulevard in Neptune Beach, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
DataSavers, 888 Suemac Road 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
The local chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA), DataSavers, Iron
Mountain, Ultra Shred Technologies and EnvironMETAL Recycling has joined Republic Services Recycling
Center as a KJB partner in the popular annual event.
In 2011, Republic Services collected 23,100 pounds of paper, magazines, newspapers, phonebooks and
cardboard at Prime Osborn. Of that amount, Republic Services shredded and recycled 22,530 pounds of
paper. Additionally, 90 cell phones and 100 cell phone chargers were collected and donated to Hubbard House
and 129 pairs of shoes were collected and donated to Soles4Souls.
This year at the Kmart site, Iron Mountain and Ultra Shred will have trucks on site to collect and shred paper,
and a third DataSavers truck will collect hard drives, which will be destroyed at its Suemac Road facility. A
Soles4Souls donation box for gently worn shoes will be available, and the electronics that are donated at this
location (see list below) will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Baymeadows.
